Opening music

I: Guess what I saw on FB this morning?

R: I couldn’t possibly imagine…because you see a lot of things on Facebook in the morning. But tell me what you saw this time.

I: Well, there is a new food trend that people are really getting into.

R: And that is…

I: Get this…smearing butter on saltine crackers.

R: You’re kidding me right? Haven’t we been doing this since childhood?

I: Yes, that’s what I thought too. I know you like peanut butter on saltines.

R: Yep…nothing better.

R: Hi everyone…And here we are…Celebrating what people love to do creatively by giving them a voice… I’m Rod Jones

I: And I’m Inci Jones…Welcome to the Thought Row podcast. We invite you to subscribe wherever you listen. We are available virtually anywhere you listen to your podcasts.

R: Please remember to share the Thought Row podcast with your friends…Inci, what are we discussing today?

I: Today we’re going to be speaking with Nalini Malaviya, an art consultant, curator & writer.

R:  Nalini is from Bangalore, India. She is very knowledgeable about the art world.

I: I especially like that Nalini is such a genuine person when she shares her feelings and her journey.

R: It’s going to be great…Ok…Let’s hear this week’s quote.

I:  Okay, so this quote “The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.” – Mother Teresa

R: She’s a saint.

I: Yes, she was declared a saint and her name is Saint Teresa of Calcutta.

Discuss –

I: Now it’s your turn Rod…We are ready for Rod’s motivational moments.

R: Well, I’m going to go with what I posted today, and that is… Kindness never goes out of style. I’m sure somebody has said this a million times before me, but it’s a reminder that we should all try to live up to.

Discuss

I: Seeing how we’re going to be talking to someone from India that has gained international notoriety, it’s important to think about just how small the world has become.

Discuss

R: One thing that I always appreciate is how open and real our guests have been.

Discuss

I: You know…I’m really excited to move onto our interview with Nalini. Let’s listen to what she has to say.

Middle music

R: Nalini…welcome to the Thought Row Podcast, we are excited to have you as a guest.

I: Hi Nalini… I know this is going to be a very informative conversation about creativity and art.

R: Nalini…I was fortunate enough to run into your website and I have to say, there is quite a bit of information there…and I had a wonderful time exploring it. Because you are an art consultant, curator, and writer. All things we would love to know more about.

Nalini – replies

I: Ok, Nalini before we officially start the interview…We always like to ask our guests what they had for breakfast.

R: I’d like to set the scene for this interview, please tell us about where you live.

Discussion

I: You have a beautiful name…we would love to know what it means.

Discussion

R: It looks to us that your website is the centerpiece for everything that you do as an art consultant, curator, and writer. Tell us about it.

Discussion

I:  Nalini, you are one of those talented people that have the personal strength and motivation to transition through various careers. What kept you motivated and going?

Discussion

R: One of the things I’ve noticed is that you curated a fundraising exhibition. Has that been successful for you?

Discuss

I: What is the art scene like in India?

Discussion

R: How has the art community and you in particular adapted to online and digital platforms, especially in the last year and half, and what are the kinds of challenges you and others faced

Discussion –

I: Do you have a core philosophy you like to live by?

Discuss

R: Would you share with us, and our listeners, your connection to the spiritual side of your philosophy and how it impacts your creativity?

Discuss

I: Nalini, you are living a life totally immersed in creativity. What would you tell others about living that life?

Discuss –

R: I’m going back to something you responded to earlier, and that is the importance of family, and how they hopefully shape one’s desire to explore creativity and all its aspects. What are your thoughts on that?

I: So now… we’re going to ask you a question that we have been asking all of our guests. If you could sit on a park bench and chat with anyone from the past, who would it be?

Discuss

R: Nalini, thank you for being our guest today. It’s always hard to end an interview, especially because you shared so much with us today.

I: I agree with Rod….our listeners are going to enjoy this interview. Also…Just want to let everyone know…if you want to know more about Nalini, we will have links for her under the show guest tab on Thought Row podcast.com.
